Details

Giant's Anthem X 29er 3 with its 29-inch wheels and Maestro rear suspension rolls over almost anything. It can climb back up almost anything, too. In front, a tapered steerer and 15mm through axle on the 100mm travel Fox fork ensures a straight tracking ride down technical descents. To keep up with the front, Fox's RP2 rear shock gives you 100mm of travel for charging down the trail. On the ride back up, Shimano's 10-speed SLX drivetrain has an 11-36 cassette for plenty of gear range so you can spin the 29-inch Giant wheels. Other sweet components include Avid Elixir brakes, Maxxis tires and a supportive Fizik saddle.

The 100mm-travel rear suspension features strategically positioned pivots that create a floating axis for excellent pedaling efficiency. It prevents energy-sapping bobbing and increases suspension sensitivity for optimum traction, comfort and control.

    Comments:

I picked this bike (my first full suspension) up from my LBS in early spring after comparing similar Treks, Tallboys, and Specialized models. I have ridden it 2-3 xs per week since. I love this bike! Enough suspension to care for my worn out back, but not so much that it affects the climbing. The bike never feels spongey - even on steep climbs. The frame is pretty long, so the stance is more aggresive relative to the Trek I was comparing. This results in a more smooth and controlled ride on the descents (in my opinion) and a more controlled feel overall. I highly recommend this bike.
